Today the BBC launched their all new and improved news website: http://bbc.co.uk/news
The overall design is much improved. I always felt with the last design that it was stuck at the beginning of the decade… It was dated the minute it was released. This one is much fresher and modern, making use of bold, large fonts to attract the eye to headlines, rather than using large bodies of text.
That said, alike to the last design, there again seems to be a bit too much on the frontpage. Other than the headlines, I don’t find myself reading anything else on the homepage and find those items later on when browsing the smaller sections of the website.
The new local weather and news section is rather nice. As is the new BBC iPlayer section which lists relevant news programmes that have been broadcasted recently.
The only other niggle that I’ve found is the sudden removal of the only very recently implemented navigational bar at the top of most of the BBCs online services. What was the point in replacing something that was only included about a month ago?
